Ability School for Education & Equity at Modern (ASEEM)

ASEEM is a special needs programme established by Modern School Society on the premises of Modern School Barakhamba Road. The objectives of ASEEM are to create a centre that offers pre-vocational, vocational and life-skills training for persons with diverse abilities.

At ASEEM, we believe in ability, inclusion, and equity - helping every individual discover their strengths and shine.

About Us

ASEEM is a vibrant learning and activity centre for children and adults with disabilities. We provide a safe and nurturing environment where teens and adults with special needs can learn, grow, and thrive.

Our Philosophy

Our programme combines life skills, vocational skilling, sports, and recreation, empowering every learner to build confidence and independence. With enriching creative and physical activities like yoga, farming, pottery, and games, ASEEM ensures a holistic balance of skill creativity and wellbeing.

What We Do?

At ASEEM we provide therapeutic interventions, special education, sports, arts, and functional training. A unique feature of ASEEM is the availability of programme in which all interventions are built into the schedule.

Through art and crafts they make candles, diyas, and many decorative items.

To create employment opportunities, the centre has installed a machine to manufacture paper bowls and plates. a step towards creating livelihoods and enabling our students to be contributing members of society and live with dignity.

Being part of a mainstream school, ASEEM offers multiple opportunities to its students to avail of campus resources, be in touch with beautiful nature and be included in programmes and functions.

Students of ASEEM, gain confidence, learn teamwork but most importantly have
Fun.

Sportability Programme

The term ‘Sportability’ is an amalgamation of ‘Sport’ and ‘Ability.’ It is an initiative of Modern School Barakhamba road to promote sports and social inclusion. The programme aligns with the mission of Modern School, which has practiced for over a century and continues to have at its heart, acceptance of diversity. Sports infrastructure of the Modern School Barakhamba Road has been made accessible for children of varying needs to play, learn and develop. World class infrastructure and skilled, empathetic coaches are in place to guide children with neurological or physical challenges to become active and fit.

Inclusion through sports refers to the idea of using sports as a platform to promote diversity, equity, and participation among individuals of all backgrounds and abilities. At Sportability, we promote inclusion through:-

  • Accessible Participation : Providing opportunities for people of all ages, genders, abilities, and socioeconomic backgrounds to participate in sports.
  • Breaking Barriers : Sports can break down societal barriers by fostering interaction and collaboration among individuals who might not otherwise connect.
  • Promoting Diversity : Celebrating diversity by showcasing athletes from different cultures, ethnicities, and communities.
  • Building Empathy : Through sports, individuals can develop empathy and understanding for others, learning to appreciate different perspectives and experiences.
  • Skill Development : Sports teach valuable life skills such as teamwork, communication, and resilience, which are essential for personal growth and success.
  • Community Engagement : Sports events and activities can bring communities together, promoting a sense of belonging and unity.
  • Health and Well-being : Encouraging physical activity through sports improves overall health and well-being, benefiting individuals of all abilities.
  • Education and Awareness : Using sports to educate about issues such as inclusivity, equality, and respect, thereby raising awareness and promoting positive societal change.
